In the third to final match of the 2024 regular season, the LA Force slugged their way through Capo FC with a 5-0 win at JSerra Field. The Force dominated possession and controlled the defensive third against Capo with ease. With possession, came opportunities to score and the club was very pleased with the individual performances on the pitch.
A very different look for the Force was on display at JSerra Field as Dekel Keinan made his return to the starting side after a month. Along with Keinan a whole new midfield took on Capo with the likes of Pineda, Ortega, and Juarez. Quist and Brigida remained on the bench, but expect their contributions to be made soon.
With the first half whistle, Capo FC attempted to catch the LA Force by surprise by applying high pressure along with long ball opportunities. This strategy would return to bite them, as the Force score in the 12th minute of the match.
An opportunity for the Force came from a set piece corner put in by Juarez. The cross was high and set for Dekel Keinan, as he would head the ball into the box one more time looking for a teammate. Shaibu Jr. would be the teammate to finish the goal. (1-0)
Within moments of the ball reset, Capo FC lost possession of the ball in their own half with a nice interception by Oscar Delgado. Delgado would set up Ortega with an opportunity for a cut back pass. Mouhamadou War was outside of the box to receive the pass and crush the ball behind the keeper. (2-0)
Capo FC would have a hard time penetrating the defense of the Force, as the club would apply heavy pressure and maintain the pace of the match.
Capo would proceed to try the long ball game and hope for a mistake. The closest opportunity came in the 31st minute with a cross that no Force defender would get to in front of the net.
In the 40th minute, Capo would execute a counter-attack that ended with an outstanding diving header by a Capo FC striker who would be on target, but would not be an issue for Torman.
At the half, LA Force led Capo FC, 2-0.
The second half was a very special moment for one of the new additions to the LA Force. Ayden Bowers had been on the injured list for nearly half a year and the Force were grateful to see the defender back on two feet. The 2023 NISA Best XI Defender winner was back and ready to finish the regular season strong with a win.
In the second half the LA Force put on a better dominant performance than the first. The use of starters as substitutes and more fresh legs would be key to securing the 5-0 victory.
Capo FC would struggle to find chances in the second and would concede early with Mouhamadou War securing his second goal in the 57th minute. A deflected shot would hit the post and slide in for the young winger. (3-0)
Victor Blanco would join the midfield around the 60-minute mark and would sink in his first goal of the season in the 78th minute. A shot by Joel Quist was deflected off the keeper and Blanco was there to finish it through. An easy tap-in that allowed the force to play with more confidence. (4-0)
The final goal would come in the 89th minute with Dante Brigida once again finishing with his left foot. A similar shot from the game-winning goal just a month ago, Brigida made the scoreline 5-0 to close out the match.
The Force have secured another 3 points to hold first place of the Western Conference, with Irvine Zeta also securing a 3-0 result against Monsoon due to forfeit. The Zeta and Force will play this upcoming Saturday which will determine whether the Force will be crowned Western Conference Regular Season Champions with a win or tie. Don’t miss out on what will be a must-watch NISA contest.
